About this site
Location With IP is a small editorial site about IP addresses, geolocation, and what the open internet shows about us without us noticing. It started as a personal IP lookup bookmark and grew, slowly, into a library of plain-English explainers.
What this site is
- A free, no-signup IP lookup tool that runs entirely in your browser.
- A growing set of articles on VPNs, geo-restrictions, DNS and WebRTC leaks, the legality of file-sharing, and the technical mechanics of geolocation.
- An honest attempt to explain those subjects without the marketing language most VPN review sites lean on.
What this site is not
- An affiliate funnel. The site doesn't sell VPN subscriptions or take referral commissions on the tools it discusses.
- A help desk. We don't troubleshoot specific account issues, take support tickets, or work with individual cases.
- A piracy directory. The "warez" pieces are encyclopedic — what the word means, the legal status by jurisdiction, the actual risk profile — not a guide to anything.
How the IP lookup works
The homepage calls a third-party geolocation API (ipapi.co) from your browser, then displays what it returns. The detection happens client-side; nothing is logged or stored on our infrastructure (a static site on Cloudflare Pages, no database, no analytics beyond Cloudflare's own anonymized hit counts).
About the team
The site is written and maintained by an independent editor with a background in internet infrastructure. Articles are fact-checked against primary sources (RFCs, court rulings, vendor documentation) wherever possible; the cited sources are linked in-line.
Updates
Each article carries the date of its last revision. We rewrite the legal sections at least once a year to keep them in step with the policy shifts in the major jurisdictions (US, EU, UK, AU, Russia, China, UAE).
Get in touch
This site doesn't run a contact form. If you spot an error you'd like corrected, the most useful thing is to open an issue on a tracker or share the page on a forum — corrections come back to us through search.
